Municipal Social Welfare And Development Office (MSWDO)

During the start of the year, MSWDO conducted evaluation of 2009 performance and accomplishment based on the prepared annual accomplishment report. The evaluation was done during monthly staff meeting. After which was the preparation of 2010 work plan and discussion on 2010 thrust and direction of MSWDO. Likewise, the performance evaluation of each permanent staff was conducted based on their actual functions and accomplishments.

The annual accomplishment of MSWDO focuses on tis 2010 thrusts and directions that include:

  1. Organization and strengthening of different sectoral groups
  2. On-time delivery of basic social welfare services and campaign and advocacies of different laws on children, women, ERPAT, person with disabilities and senior citizens to ensure their welfare and best interest.

Hereunder were the activities undertaken and accomplished:

Social Case Study Reports For Medical/Financial And Burial Assistance. This helped the indigent clients to overcome their being in crisis situation and meet their emergency needs on medication, hospitalization, and burial. This included 220 clients served through PCSO, Philippine General Hospital, Office of the President, Office of the Vice President, Philippine Heart Center, St. Luke’s Hospital, National Orthopedic Center, Mary Mediatrix Medical Center, Natioanal Kidney and Transplant Institute.

Referral/Certificate Of Indigency. MSWDO has helped 90 indigent individuals and families as they were able to avail social service assistance from the Batangas Regional Hospital, free legal assistance, and rehabilitaton from mental hospital.  As per records, the Office has helped 90 indigent individuals and families – 106 children were referred hospital for newbon screening.

Aid To Individual In Crisis Situation. 

  • 152 needy families were extended with assistance (financial, medical, burial) by the LGU. The amount spent was P244,200.00.
  • 41 indigent families were given financial assistance by the Provincial Government as requested by Office of the Mayor

Assistance To Socially Disadvantaged Families

  • The Office provided pre-marriage counselling to 238 couples on how to be a good husband and wife and become effective parents.
  • 12 Identification Cards were issued to solo parents

Assistance To Socially Disadvantaged Communities

  • 458 families were provided cash grants under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) through the Department of Social Welfare and Development. It is a poverty reduction strategy that provides cash grant to extremely poor households to improve their nutrition, health, and education particularly of children aged 4 – 14. And amount of P5,538,000.00 were extended to beneficiaries.
  • There are 629 families provided with PhilHeatl cards by the LGU. Out of which, 2,270 were sponsored by the Provincial Government of Batangas and 181 families sponsored by the national government. The LGU spent P377,400.00 for its annual premium.

Day Care Children/Children

  • 23 Day Care Workers attended the Basic Life Support Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation For Lay Rescuers conducted by the Philippine Red Cross-Batangas Chapter.
  • 8 Day Care Centers and Day Care Workers were accredited by DSWD and were rated “Very Satisfactorily”
  • 650 Day Care children, parents, day care workers attended the recognition day.
  • 158 day care children, parents and workers participated in the educational field trip
  • all children from 26 day care centers participated in the children month’s celebration held at Recto Gym
  • OB Montessori teacher attended the Refresher Course at the OB Montessori, Ibaan, Batangas. LGU spent P30,000.00 for the training.

Enhancement Of Socially Disadvantaged Women

  • 1,600 women attended the Women’s Month celebration in the municipality. LGU spent P120,000.00 for this activity.
  • The LGU provided P600,000.00 financial assistance to Local Council Of Women – Ibaan, Inc.
  • MSWDO staff and 2 women officers participated on the study visit of Gender And Development (GAD) Focal Points and attended orientation.
  • 33 Women President attended the training on longanisa, tocino, ham making and cake baking seminar.

Empowerment And Reaffirmation Of Paternal Abilities (ERPAT)

  • 800 ERPAT members attended their Annual General Assembly where LGU spent P60,000.00.
  • ERPAT was provided with P420,000.00 financial grant/assistance by the LGU and P30,000.00 by the Provincial Government of Batangas
  • 250 ERPAT members participated int he District and Provincial ERPAT Celebration

Senior Citizens

  • The LGU extended P100,000.00 financial assistance to senior citizens through OSCA
  • 610 Senior Citizens were issued ID card
  • 947 Purchase Slip Booklet for medicine were issued to senior citizens
  • 119 Purchase Slip Booklet for groceries were issued to senior citizens
  • Senior Citizens from Salaban I, Ibaan, Batangas were given P5,000.00 being one of the centennial awardees

Monthly Staff Conference. Issues and concerns were discussed and provided with proper solutions during the meetings pf 23 day care workers, 20 senior citizens group, 20 ERPATS, 31 women’s, officers of persons with disability, and MSWDO staff

Other activities conducted is the management of women and children cases: 5 rape, 5 WEDC (women in especially difficult circumstances), 11 CICL (children in conflict with the law), 2 physical abuse.
