OBJECTIVE

Seeks to enable participants to interpret the art and form of the traditional parol, allowing to uncover and utilize socio-historical references, folk craft and recycling techniques. The challenge is to give new meaning to the art of illumination and environmental consciousness via the Filipino Christmas lantern tradition.

MECHANICS

1. Lantern must be 1.20 meters in diameter not to exceed as measured from both extremities, including the trimmings. Design shall be furnished to all participants by organizers (see attached)

2. Lantern skin shall be made of recyclable and indigenous materials.

3. Lighting systems should use energy-saving electric bulbs of any size with 220 AC voltage. Participants take care of electric cord and male plug. Electrical outlets and electricity consumed during the display period will be provided free of charge.

4. Lanterns should be free from electric shock and pyro-techniques.

5. Lanterns should also be free from neither sharp protrusions nor hazardous materials which may cause harm to people.

6. Lanterns must be able to withstand indoor and outdoor conditions for the duration of the Christmas season.

7. Lantern itself should not carry any identification mark, labels or branding of any form before the judging date. These will be allowed only after judging has taken place.

8. Once an entry is submitted and formally lit, no alterations will be allowed on the design. Minor repairs such as changing of bulbs, retouching of paint and re-gluing will be allowed after securing permission from the contest organizers.

9. Entries should be submitted on or before 5 P.M. on December 7, 2012 to be hang immediately in their designated areas. They shall be display until January 4, 2013.

10. Judging will take place on December 14, 2012.

11. Entries that do not comply with any of the rules and regulations shall be disqualified.

12. Registration forms shall indicate name of payee and person authorized to receive the check in case the entry wins a cash price.

13. Winners shall be announced and awarded their prizes on the final night of the choral competition (December 26, 2012).

Inter-Barangay Christmas Carol Choir Contest

I. Objective

The primary objective Inter-Barangay Christmas Carol Choir Contest is to showcase different barangay’s singing talents and skills. And since this is in choir format, it also hopes to foster creativity in blending voices to produce elegant music, particularly Christmas songs.

II. Participants

1. The contest is open to all barangay singers/choir in Ibaan.

2. The singing group/choir shall be composed of ten (10) to fifteen (15) members only. The members may either be male or female, all male, or all female, regardless of sex orientation.

3. Only bonafide residents of the barangay shall compose the singing group/choir.

4. In case of newly transferred member, he/she should/must have stayed/resided in the barangay for not less than six (6) months. His/Her residency should/must be vouched by the Barangay Chairman through a letter to be submitted to the concern contest committee not later than December 10, 2012.

5. Individuals who have joined/participated in any singing contest prior to the said contest are allowed to become member of the singing group/choir representing the barangay.

6. No entrance fee shall be required among the participants to be able to join the contest.

III. Mechanics

1. The participants are to perform Christmas songs.

2. The participants will have to prepare three (3) songs: two during the first round/elimination and one (1) during the final round where winners will be determined.

3. The participants are to render two songs –one slow song and one fast song during the elimination. Each song will have a minimum of three (3) minutes and maximum of five (5) minutes.

4. The song to be performed for the final round may either be fast or slow.

5. The songs shall be rendered in acapella or with no music accompaniment of any kind.

6. The barangay may hire a music teacher/mentor outside the barangay or non-resident of the barangay.

7. The music/song mentor shall not be allowed to come up on stage with the group. However, he may conduct in front of the stage.

8. The songs may either be in English or in Tagalog, both in English, or both in Tagalog.

9. After the first round, the scoring will again start from zero, disregarding the obtained score/percentage during the first round.

10. Judging for the final round shall use the same set of criteria for judging used in the first round/elimination.

11. Top 5 barangays with highest percentage earned during the first round/elimination will advance to the final round.

12. Drawing of lots shall be made to determine the sequence of the performance among participants on December 14, 2012.

IV. Submission of Entries

1. Deadline for submission/confirmation of entry shall be on December 10, 2012, until 4:00pm.

2. Names of the choir members and mentor/s shall also be submitted on the said date of deadline.

V. Venue and Date Of Contest

The contest proper shall be on December 26, 2012 at Recto Gym. The contest will start at 7:00pm.

VI. Criteria For Judging

Stage Presence 10%

Audience Impact 10%

VII. Prizes

The prizes will be as follows:

RETRO CON MODERNO DANCE CONTEST

MECHANICS

1. The dance competition is open to all dance groups composed of 8 to 12 members, all male / all female / co-ed.

2. The dance group will only be proclaimed an official contestant of the dance competition upon submission of complete requirements.

3. The dance piece should be composed of dance steps from 80’s to present.

4. Dance routine should be a minimum of three (3) minutes and maximum of five (5) minutes performance.

5. All songs used in the performance piece must be appropriate and suitable for any age. Foul taste in music such as profanity will result in disqualification.

6. Use of props will be allowed as long as it will not cause any delay in the program and those that may harm the performance of other groups. Props such as oil, confetti, fire, broken glass, live animals, sharp objects and the like are prohibited.

7. All participants should conduct themselves in a manner displaying good sportsmanship throughout the competition. Any demonstration of unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification.

8. Groups may wear any costume/attire provided that costumes are decent and secured.

9. No entrance fee shall be required among the participants to be able to join the contest.

10. Drawing of lots shall be made to determine the sequence of the performance among participants on December 14, 2012.

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES

1. Deadline for submission/confirmation of entry shall be on December 10, 2012, until 4:00pm.

2. Names of the dance group members and choreographer shall also be submitted on the said date of deadline.

The contest proper shall be on December 29, 2012 at B. R. Medrano Plaza. The contest will start at 7:00pm.

Battle Of The Band

Mechanics

1. The Battle of the Band is open to participation by different band performers from different municipality. Only first 10 bands who will confirm their participation will be considered as official participants/contestants. There is no registration/entrance fee required.

 

2. The participating band shall be composed of not more than seven (7) members or a maximum of seven (7) members.

 

3. Only amateur bands with no recording/distribution deals with any major label and are or were never a part of any professional music outfits are allowed to join the contest.

 

4. Band members are required to bring their own instruments.

 

5. Band members are responsible for the security of their equipment and the event organizer cannot be held liable for any lost, damaged or stolen equipment.

 

6. Bands will be held liable for any damage to the in-house equipment and the financial costs thereof.

 

7. The entire performance must be live. No fully-programmed music is permitted.

 

8. A drawing of lots will be done before the event to determine the order of performance. If a band or band member is not present when the band is due to take the stage, the band will be disqualified. The next band will take their slot.

 

9. The participating band shall perform two (2) songs at the first round or elimination round –one (1) sound check and one (1) contest piece. The songs to be performed shall be at five (5) minutes maximum each.

 

10. Five (5) bands with highest points/percentage earned on the first round/elimination round shall advance to the second and final round.

 

11. The bands who qualified for the second and final round shall perform one (1) song as their contest piece with a maximum duration of five (5) minutes.

 

12. There shall be no required genre of music which the band will perform.

 

13. No age limit is required among participants.

 

14. The participating bands are expected to be at the venue before 7:00pm and shall report to the concern committing to further confirm their participation to the contest.

 

15. Drawing of lots shall be done on the night of the event at exactly 6:30pm to determine the sequence of performance/contestants.

 

16. Only those present during the drawing of lots shall be considered as official contestants.

 

17. Only those who have submitted their entries on the date of established deadline, December 21, 2012, shall be considered as official candidates.

 

Submission of Entries

1. Deadline for submission/confirmation of entry shall be on December 21, 2012, until 4:00pm.

2. The participating bands are required to fill-up entry form. The entry form must be filled up on the day and before the event itself.

 

Criteria For Judging

The bands shall be judged based on the following criteria:

Musicality 50%

Voice Quality 30%

Stage Presence 10%

Audience Impact 10%

Note: The above criteria for judging shall be used in first and final round of judging.

Prizes

To encourage more participants, the prizes shall be as follows:

1st Place P10,000.00

2nd Place P7,000.00

3rd Place P5,000.00

Note: A consolation prize of P2,000.00 shall be given to two other bands who failed to win.
